Thin Dense Chrome

Thin Dense Chrome (TDC) adds a new standard to combating wear and corrosion - a unique, very hard, very dense chrome coating, to gain maximum benefit from your tools and machine parts.
TDC is a massive improvement over conventional hard chrome-plating technology. Showing substantially harder coating (approx 72 HRc) with vastly improved adhesion to the base materials, the coating is also far more corrosion resistant. Low-temperature application of the coating(<60 °C) and accurate thicknesses of 5 to 25 microns, depending on the application, produce a coating which follows the exact contours of the base metal, without the need for post grinding.
TDC is applied through a unique electro-chemical plating technique using state of the art equipment, as well as imported Japanese know-how and technology from a key Toyota supplier. All this has been put together at a world class premises in Mobeni, Durban. The plant includes a full effluent processing facility to ensure the plant and process is 100% environmentally friendly.
Properties
• High hardness
• Smooth matt silver surface finish
• Controlled thickness between 5 and 25 microns
• Very low micro-crack density
• High Corrosion Resistance
• Large Capacity of 6m x 3m x 2.5m and weights of up to 20 tons
• Low coating temperatures of less than 60°C
Benefits:
• Remarkable wear resistance
• Low friction
• Smooth gliding properties
• Anti-seizure characteristics
• Corrosion resistance
Simply put, TDC is very slippery, very hard, resistant to most industrial
corrosive environments, and best of all it has a bond strength far superior
to that of conventional chrome.
Automotive Body Panel Tooling:
