Who we are and what we offer
The TD Coating Centre is all about the getting the best performance from your tooling or machine component. Whether it is through the application of specialised surface coatings, or the manufacture of precision coated tooling, all parts are engineered for exceptional performance. We achieve this by correctly engineering the product, from the selection of the appropriate steel base, heat treatment, surface finish and the correct surface coating. Over the years we have extended our service to the manufacturing industry offering more coating solutions over a range of technologies. In addition we have added a manufacturing service specialised in providing a complete solution for precision items. A complete solution for convenience and better performance.

Thermal Diffusion (TD) Coating


Also known as Toyota Diffusion and Thermo-Reactive Diffusion (TRD). This coating is the "king of adhesion" as far as hard thin film coatings are concerned, using the original patented Toyota know-how. Ultra hard Vanadium Carbide (~ 90 HRc) is diffused onto the surface of tool steels to produce a slick, smooth carbide skin to resist friction, galling, pick-up, wear for all demanding metalworking applications such as deep drawing, stamping, punching, pressing, rolling, coining, swaging, flaring etc. ...more


PVD Coating - (Physical Vapour Deposition)

Through state-of-the-art Oerlikon Balzers equipment we offer Titanium Nitride (TiN), and Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) Futura Nano. PVD coating offers the highest precision for high accuracy applications and exotic material selections such and powder metallurgical and conventional high speed steels, as well as certain cold work tool steels. Its properties of good adhesion, low coefficient of friction and ability to cover acute cutting edges make it perfect for punching, cropping and blade applications amongst others. ...more

ARMOLOY® TDC


Unique thin dense chrome technology from the USA. This 78 Hrc chromium layer displays an absolute bond, with exceptional corrosion resistance and a lubrous micro-nodular surface finish. Its low temperature application and excellent properties can cover the broadest range of wear resistant applications from bearings, plastic injection moulding slides and cavities to pump components and gears. ...more

Thin Dense Chrome (TDC)

Thin Dense Chrome - a Japanese version of the chroming process specifically designed for the automotive panel pressing using large cast iron dies. Bath sizes of 6m x 3m x 2.5m and handling loads up to 20 tons mean this is also suitable for the chroming of very large jobs. DIFFOX

This nitrogen based coating offers a great solution to the special condition of items needing good wear resistance as well as resistance to corrosion. Typically performed on working parts made of lower alloy and plain carbon steels, this complete cover diffusion coating technique can sometimes replace costly stainless steel, while offering better wear properties and base toughness. ...more

Nano Mould Release

Diffusion Zinc (TDZinc)

Purely for corrosion resistance and a excellent alternative to the soft hot dip Galvanising and Electro Galvanising. Huge corrosion advantages especially for fasteners, nuts, bolts, nails, screws , hollow items, assemblies. Process involves diffusion of zinc into the surface of the steel through a zinc rich powder. Can we make it for you?

Early on we realised that the complex interactions of surface finish , tool steel selection, heat treatment tempering curves and then these interactions with specific coating process conditions, meant that "just coating" something and getting fantastic results was not so easy for customers. By offering the finished part, made, coated, delivered, meant coatings could perform to their full potential as the right choices and procedures were made up front with the coating and performance in mind. Specialising in precision ground items we offer a full range of standard piercing punches and dies including DIN 9861, ISO 8020 as well as JIS standard punches. Flat, obround, ejector, spurting or custom punches..... you name it, we can make it. Not just punches ... we have made core pins for plastic injection moulds, aluminium die casting, precision forming punches and dies , pump pistons, blades, rollers, guides and many other custom applications.
